Perfect Pooch System Review - My Honest Opinion!

The Perfect Pooch System – A Brutally Honest Review!

Who doesn’t want to have the perfect pooch? When we first get our furry friends, we have dreams of how well behaved they are yet we don’t always know how to get them to be like that! Enter the many different dog training programs available online.

I'm going to share my opinion and experience in my Perfect Pooch System review.  This program was created by Dana Gallagher at K9 Dog Training Club and I’ll give you all the dirt on whether or not you should spend your money on this program or if it’s just another typical dog program that won’t get you very far.  Let’s get into it!

Who is Dana Gallagher?

Dana Gallagher is the founder of Dana’s K9 Dog Training Club.  She is a CPDT-KA certified dog trainer with 12 years of experience.  She is also a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, an ANWI with the National Association of Canine Scent work, and a member of the President’s Choice International Superdogs Performance Team.  She is also the owner of Kinetic Dog Training, a company based out of Vancouver, BC that specializes in behavior modification and dog sports.

Dana has five dogs of her own and volunteers with them doing pet therapy at a senior’s residence, demos with The Paws Squad and as part of the BC SPCA Bite Safe Program.  She has trained them in agility, rally obedience, flyball, nose work, musical freestyle, tracking, carting, herding, obedience, and freestyle flying disc.

Phew…that’s a lot! So, on first impression, Dana seems pretty legit! This made me feel pretty optimistic about diving into the Perfect Pooch System.

What is the Perfect Pooch System?

The Perfect Pooch System is a specialized dog training system that allows owners to easily train their dogs at home.  On her landing page, she describes the Perfect Pooch System as “the perfect Train-At-Home System for your dog to improve your dog’s behavior in a matter of minutes.  Based on scientific learning theory and positive reinforcement and not punishment or pain, so you can rest assured that your dog will love you even more AND start behaving surprisingly well at the same time!”

Putting aside the obvious marketing tactics, it seemed like this program follows a lot of the same principles as other programs I’ve tried out with my dog.  But, like I said, Dana seems to be pretty legit given her certifications and experience so I was still pretty intrigued despite the exuberant sales copy.

Who is the Perfect Pooch System For?

When looking in more detail at the Perfect Pooch System, it seemed like it was more targeted towards dogs with problem behaviors.  Dana lists the different problems she covers in her lessons:

After seeing the list, I realized the program may also be geared towards general obedience training for young puppies (i.e. before they actually start to have some of these problem behaviors!)

Once I purchased the course, I was excited to dive into it to see just how effective her lessons were with all of these problems! And, I always agree with a trainer who focuses on positive reinforcement incorporating rewards, affection and praise for your dog.

Perfect Pooch System – What’s Included?

The Perfect Pooch system is broken up into two different options you can buy.  I’ll take you through what’s included in both!

Basic Package

In the Basic package, you get access to the Perfect Pooch Train at Home System.  This includes the latest and most dog-friendly techniques available for training your dog.  It goes through all the things you saw in the list above and is the main attraction you’re likely looking for when it comes to training your dog.

Deluxe Package

Then there’s the Deluxe Package or the “Ultimate Training Package”.  In this package you get,

  • The Perfect Pooch Train-At-Home System – Online course
  • 7 Secrets to Change Behavior
  • Dog Food and Nutrition
  • Safe Body Handling
  • Separation Anxiety
  • VIP Insider Club Access

Obviously, you’re going to get more bang for your buck with the Deluxe package, particularly because it gives you the VIP Insider Club Access where you can get access to Dana and have the opportunity to get answers to your questions and concerns.  This is also where new videos are updated regularly which helps you stay up to date!

Perfect Pooch System – Cost

Now let’s talk price.  What do these two packages cost?

The Basic Package comes in at a one-time payment of $27 plus tax.

The Deluxe Package comes in at a one-time payment of $37 plus tax.

With both options, you get instant access to the content and videos.  And, they both come with a 60 Day Satisfaction Guarantee so you can get a full refund if you aren’t satisfied with the system. We like risk free stuff!

One of my issues with the landing page is that I actually had no option other than to purchase the Deluxe package.  The button to select the Basic Package wasn’t working and all the other buttons were automatically geared towards having me purchase the Deluxe Package.  In the long run, this wasn’t a big deal because I wanted to get the Deluxe Package anyway but I would rather have the option versus being forced!

Final Verdict

What did I think of the program? It was pretty good.  Dana definitely knows her stuff and explains everything well.  My dog doesn’t have ALL the issues that Dana covers in The Perfect Pooch System but we were able to make some progress on some of the problem behaviors (like jumping on guests).

Do I think it was worth the money? I think it was a good option for someone who is trying to solve problem behaviors with their dog and wants to focus on a few key things with their dog.  The bonuses in the Deluxe Program were good to have (and were fine for an additional $10) but they didn’t have anything I hadn’t already heard before.

All in all, I would give the Perfect Pooch System a rating of 7 out of 10.

I don’t think it was as good as another program I’ve tried – Brain Training For Dogs.

Brain Training For Dogs

This program has still been my favorite one so far because of its depth and variety.  It doesn’t just cover obedience training but also works on behavior problems and really helps you to give your dog a purpose in what they’re doing…which inherently makes them listen better and be more behaved.

Added to that, Brain Training for Dogs is actually only $10 more than the Perfect Pooch System and I definitely got a lot more content for that money.  If you think you want to find out more about Brain Training For Dogs, check out my honest review!
